Global Green Chemistry Initiative

A program to advance the awareness and deployment of Green Chemistry ideas and processes throughout the world.

The Global Green Chemistry Initiative has developed several resources to help people around the world learn more about green chemistry, and instill green chemistry ideas and practices into local commercial processes.

The materials were originally developed for workshops that were held for practitioners based in 14 different countries (see list below), and they are now availale at the Initiative website. Those materials include:

  • Modules for a 1-Day Awareness Raising Workshop
  • Modules for a 5-Day Train the Facilitator Workshop
  • Technology Compendium documenting green chemistry solutions from around the world
  • Educational videos
  • Guidance Document explaining how and why governments and industries should implement green chemistry

The Global Green Chemistry Initiative is a partnership between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale, and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
