Serbia's Center for Cleaner Production Hosting 2nd Annual Green Hackathon

Competitors using green chemistry to find better ways to remove harmful chemicals from plastic and electronic waste.

The specific challenge of this year's Green Hackathon: Find better ways to remove polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and phthalates from waste plastics so that the resulting materials can be more safely recycled or, if need be, disposed of.

Teams of researchers, students, start-ups, and small enterprises will be competing for a first prize of 2,000 EUR. The deadline for submission of applications is December 3, 2025.

The Green Hakathon is hosted by University of Belgrade's Center for Cleaner Production in cooperation with Serbian e-waste recycling company E-RECIKLAŽA.
